This system has a wide mouth outlet that is four times the size of a regular gutter outlet, helping prevent clogs and to allow more water to move through the system quickly.
These gutter covers have a dark color that absorbs UV rays from the sun. In the winter months, the heat they absorb helps melt off snow and ice faster. Sliding ice from the roof slides right off the guttering system, instead of getting trapped inside the trough.
In the fall it is not uncommon for leaves to find their way into an uncovered guttering system. This can lead to the gutters clogging and not working properly. With an uncovered system, gutters need to be cleaned out multiple times a year to prevent clogs, which is time and energy consuming- especially with a multi-story home.
