I will recommend J. Smegal Contracting without reservation. J. Smegal was not the lowest bit, but was certainly competitive. The reason we opted to go with you were the positive reviews I heard from people I trust and are much more knowledgable about home repair and construction than I am. That peace of mind was certainly worth paying a couple percent more.

I wish I could remember the name of the representative I spoke with initially, but she was both knowledgeable and considerate. She promised me an "estimator" would get in touch with me within a day or so, and a few hours later I got the call. The communication was just right. I was contacted when the contract was processed, again when the permit went through, again to inform me of when the crew would arrive, and finally to check in with my satisfaction after the job was completed.

Jake Brown contacted me a few hours after I made my initial call to J. Smegal. We scheduled an appointment the following day. He arrived exactly on time, and was knowledgeable about the roofing process. I posed an odd question about the possible installation of zinc/copper strips to curb moss growth that he was unsure of, but he called me a day later with information. Great communication between Jake and the customer, as well as Jake and the company.

The crew showed up to replace our roof one week ahead of schedule. Unfortunately we were away this week, but Jeff Porter called me to keep me informed of the progress and texted pictures to keep me updated. Very much appreciated. Our neighbors were also impressed with the efficiency and professionalism of the crew.

Cleanup was thorough. The only way I would have known anyone was at the house was the fact that we had a new roof. There was no debris, with the exception of a few nails in the yard (I sent my kids out with a nail rake to look for nails and they only found 3 - impressive.)
