Here was a hipped roof Colonial in Cromwell, CT that had 25 year old shingles. This type of roof slopes down at all sides, toward the walls of the home. It is a great design style, however gutters are needed on each and every side. The wood in the attic was exhibiting signs of moisture permeation, from two laters of deteriorated shingles which had been installed on top of one another. There was some visible black algae streaking on these shingles as well. We installed a single layer of Owens Corning shingles, nailed into both a tear resistant underlayment, as well as Ice & Water shield. As a part of this job, we kept the attic turbine exhaust on and flashed around it. A debris receptacle is provided for all jobs, and all asphalt shingles that we remove are recycled. We also ensure that every single nail is removed from the property.
After tearing off one existing layer of shingles, the plywood decking was completed stripped and replaced with new material. Three rows of Owens Corning Weatherlock G Ice & Water shield was installed to protect any moisture from entering the home. Owens Corning Duration TruDefinition shingles, in the color of Sierra Gray, were installed. Flashing on the chimney was replaced. An existing vent boot was replaced, in the color of Black. This home is now fully protected inside and out because of Klaus Larsen!
This single family home in Cromwell, CT was in desperate need of a new roof after leaking and having to use a tarp to stop it. To fix this issue, we started the job by removing one layer of asphalt roofing materials. We then replaced 4 sheets of damaged plywood decking and installed 2 rows of Ice & Water barrier to further repel water. In terms of shingles, we installed Cambridge Architectural Shingles in the color Dual Black. We finished the job by removing the existing flashing around the chimney and replacing it with brand new lead flashing. This house is now safe and secure, thanks to Klaus Larsen Roofing!
This unique Craftsman Contemporary home in Middletown, CT had ice dams that were getting increasingly worse near the facade of the structure. Three rows of ice & water shield will protect the structure from future water damage and a new OC VentSure ridge vent will deter them from forming in the first place. These, along with new asphalt shingles, work together as a harmonious roofing system.
