Klaus Larsen Roofing recently met with Dave, a new homeowner, to inspect his hipped roof and gutters. There was no attic access, but the roof had one chimney and a Permaboot. We discussed replacing the cap vents with a ridge vent for better ventilation. Dave was shown various options and the full roofing process, along with pricing details. He mentioned he had contacted no other contractors and didn’t plan to. While happy with the price, Dave requested a couple of days to think it over, as he had just purchased the home six months ago. We were able to complete the job leaving Dave very satisfied with his purchase. 

A homeowner contacted Klaus Roofing Systems of Ohio about ongoing roof issues over the past 10 years. The roof had been leaking in the master bathroom, and there were several soft spots she feared would worsen over time. About nine years ago, roofing had been installed, but leaks persisted around the boot vent, and past repairs, including flashing work, had not fully solved the problem.

Our team conducted an inspection and found that two sections of the roof, totaling 953 square feet, were particularly affected. There was concern that the soft spots would cause further deterioration of the TPO membrane. We explained that when pulling back the rubber membrane, some of the underlying wood may need to be replaced. Accessing the roof required a second ladder, about 20 feet long, which the homeowner helped to provide. We could also access the roof from the garage with a ladder to inspect the upper levels. The team is now prepared to replace any damaged wood, address the leaks around the boot vent, and reinforce the overall structure to prevent future leaks.
