Darien homeowner Jesse reached out to Brown Roofing knowing it was time to replace his aging roof, which had two layers of shingles showing their wear. Inspector Lyndsie visited the property, performed a detailed inspection, and walked Jesse through our trusted process and premium materials, helping him feel confident moving forward. Project Manager Jimmy and his skilled crew got to work, removing both layers of old roofing and checking the plywood foundation beneath. Any damaged sheathing was replaced before ice and water shield and synthetic underlayment were installed for maximum protection. We installed a metal roof on this home in Salisbury, CT. The steps to installing a metal roof are fairly similar to installing a shingle roof. First, we rip up the old shingles and take a look at the existing decking layer and determine if it's reusable. For this job, we were able to reuse the layer. All the plywood sheets were in good shape. Next, we lay down an underlayment and Ice and Water. These layers act as an extra layer of protection and insulation for the home. In case the shingles are penetrated by anything these layers can help plug or seal the hole until proper repairs can be made. Finally, we install the metal roof. Our roofs are interlocking and they overlap so the seams are nearly invisible. This roof transformed the look of this home and truly increased the curb value of it.

This old roof on this house in Salisbury had shingle stains and worn out shingles. The Brown Roofing team installed a brand new high-quality roof for this customer. All new IKO Dynasty shingles were used in this roof transformation, in the color Glacier.  

This massive home was double-shingled which means that another roofer shingled over the original roof. While it is a method that is used in roofing it is far from ideal. Roofing over an existing roof never solves the problem. If the roof is leaking then adding another one just delays the leak for a few years and the rotting materials still have more time to rot. So when we arrived we got straight to work ripping both layers of shingles. Now that we were down to the decking layer we decided that it was necessary to replace multiple sheets of plywood due to the rot we were expecting. Once the decking layer was replaced and repaired we laid down Ice and Water along with an underlayment. These two layers act as another form of protection on the off chance the shingles were to ever fail. Finally, we installed the shingles this homeowner decided on our IKO Dynasty Castle Gray Shingles. Next on the list was the gutters, this process is fairly quick when a new roof is installed because we do not have to worry about rotted fascia. The specific gutters we installed were our 6K system which features slightly larger downspouts that will double the amount of water that can be moved off the house when compared to standard gutters. After these are installed we moved on to the siding. This customer decided on our Cedar Peaks Premium Blue Siding. This house is now fully equipped to handle any weather that gets thrown at it.
