John in East Haven, CT, was frustrated with recurring roof leaks. During his inspection, sales specialist Darwin discovered that part of the issue stemmed from his flat roof not meeting current building codes. According to the International Building Code (IBC), asphalt shingles cannot be installed on roofs with a pitch below a certain threshold; instead, a specialized polyester flat roof is required. It was time for a new roof for this Cape Cod style home in Burlington, Connecticut. The old shingles were outdated and had algae growth. This homeowner's choice to install state-of-the-art shingles will provide this home with high-quality protection.  Once the Brown Roofing team removed the old shingles, and any damaged wood, they installed new IKO Dynasty shingles. The existing shingles on this home were not overlapped like the new shingles are. This allows water to seep in through the cracks between the shingles. IKO Dynasty shingles force water to slide off of the roof rather than getting in-between the shingles and reaching the wood decking. This can prevent damages such as wood rot, holes, and leaks. In addition, these new shingles have built in algae resistance, which will keep this roof looking as good as new for a long time.
